Bohag Bihu falls in mid-April and lasts for seven days. It marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the agricultural season. The festival is celebrated with traditional dances, music, and feasting. People wear new clothes and visit their friends and relatives. Preparations for Bohag Bihu start weeks in advance. The homes are thoroughly cleaned and decorated with colorful rangolis, flowers, and lamps. Traditional Assamese delicacies like pitha, laru, and jolpan are prepared, and everyone indulges in these delicious treats. The young and the old alike participate in the festivities, and it is a time for bonding and togetherness.



The highlight of the festival is the Bihu dance. The dance is performed by both men and women and is accompanied by traditional Assamese instruments like dhol, pepa, and baahi.
